Untame Me – A Poem For The Wild Heart

August 16, 2025

by Hagar Harpak

Untame me, baby

Not that I’ve ever been tamed

Feel my feral skin

Soil of my soul

Sun of my heart

Ferns unfurl in my beating drum

Pace me woodly

Wildly

Moonly

Motion to the wonder of wilderness

Collect rocks in the river

Then let them go

Not mine

Not yours

Not ours

Unbind the goal from my dream

Fly with the fairies in my mind

Conch shell sounding the beginning

Of peace

Pieces of self strengthen with environment

Far in the flight of fantasy

Sea serpent queen riding the waves

Feeling and thoughts and sensation

Sensational in her rocking rolls of laughter

Mortal and infinite

A pile of composting leaves

Roots of new ancient ways

Rising

Breaking sidewalks

Roaring relentlessly in the sunlight

Howl hysterically under moon

Burn the beauty

Ashes adorning your new found feral

Feline flower
