Not Another Yoga Class

An embodied philosophy practice outdoors; a weekly invitation to discover the power, the pleasure, and the alchemical potency of Yoga - to learn, to explore, to interpret, to consider ancient yogic teachings and how to make them relevant for our lives today, and to embody what we study.

Not Another Yoga Class:

Friday mornings - 9am-10:15am

We'll gather at beautiful, secluded park on the north-east side of LA

(think El Sereno / Highland Park / Montecito Heights area)

The exact location will be sent via email upon registration.

The Upcoming Friday Practice

Friday, September 11th, 9am-10:15am.

Make it your regular sanctuary or drop in when you can.

Bring a friend. Bring your mom. Bring a yoga mat and unroll it under the shade of a tree, and let the wisdom of this living, breathing tradition inspire, enliven you, and support you.

In the first few weeks we’ll unpack some of the definitions of yoga from different texts and traditions, and unfold the meaning and the magic through movement and breath.

Yoga is a practice of reflection, receptivity, creativity, and transformation.

Center

You’ll strengthen your body and your mind through physicalized philosophy, and cultivate a deeper connection within and around you.

Insight

You'll be challenged to view yourself and the world from different angles, and gain insight through inquiry and contemplation.

Alchemy

You'll be inspired to make changes, to shift things, and to create new pathways within you as your perspective expands through study and practice.

Yoga is somatic. And it’s also spiritual. It’s philosophical and multidimensional. It works on intellectual and emotional levels. It’s a creative art and an evocative experience. It’s a practice. And it’s an ever evolving tradition.

Meet us under the trees

Join the Friday list for the location, updates about schedule changes, and reminders.

We will do downdogs and sun-salutations, we’ll bring in the old triangle-pose and throw in twists, and maybe an inversion or an arm-balance here and there. We’ll finish with Savasana and we’ll breathe slow, deep Ujjayi breaths. But this is not another yoga class! This class honors the ancient technology of yoga and the diversity of teachings yoga encompasses, and invites you to participate in continuing to grow the oceanic vastness of the yoga tradition.

Expect deep thoughts, and a conversation that won’t end when you roll up your mat and get back in the car.

$25 per person, per class. Register in advance, and we send you the meeting spot by email once you're signed up.
